tony's fine foods
project overview
At 1.2 megawatts (DC), this system is one of the largest commercial solar installations in the state, and in the country. In June 2006, the completion of this milestone project was commemorated at a celebratory event attended by such notable figures as Terry Tamminen, Special Assistant to the Governor of California, and Peter Darby, CEO of PG&E.
Located in West Sacramento, California, Tony's Fine Foods uses approximately 4 million kilowatt hours per year to operate their extensive frozen and refrigerated food storage warehouse and office space. Tony's Fine Foods' desire to reduce their carbon footprint and be a leader in sustainable energy in their community led them to invest in the solar electric system.
Based on annual average figures, the new solar array will generate sufficient electricity to reduce Tony's electric bills by more than $22,000 per month. The contract also included the cost of a new roof covering and new energy efficient lighting for the warehouse, further reducing electricity costs.
customer testimonial
Scott Berger, Owner and CFO of Tony's Fine Foods, said about the project, "It is exceptionally rewarding when a great thing for our business is also a great thing for our community and the environment."
